Art Moves
Weekly classes in Oslo
Continuing forms of expression that human beings have used since the dawn of time, Mark Making & Movement.
We use the mark and the body as a translative device to move our innermost thoughts and feelings from our sub conscious into our awareness.
Experience the joy of feeling & expressing our aliveness!
Get in touch with your body, release your emotions and build inner strength.
A space where the language of Mark Making & Movement continues to connect us, continues to evolve us.
I first began using drawing as a way of making sense of things in the visual diaries I kept as a child. I developed my own ‘secret language’ of marks based on an intuitive interpretation of the sensations I felt both passing through and within my body as I encountered the world. My ‘secret language’ of colours, textures & movements with which I was able to express the subtle nuances of each emotion, and each sensation as I experienced them. Mark Making - the language of our ancestors. A language I continue to embrace.
When it comes to movement I love to move. I love to dance.
These last 10 years have seen me actively seeking out professional dancers and movers with whom I have co-explored the relationship between movement and mark making. Anastassija (featured together with me in the photo above) with whom I did my first public performance in 2015. Henriette, who co-authored one of my first research papers ‘Moving Around – Exploring Movements in Co-creation between Visual Arts and Modern Dance’. My former colleagues from the studio, Atle and Sua, who both bought their wonderful energy, knowledge and insights to my Art Labs. And of course, Kyrre, who continues to open his dance studio to me, my art & my charcoal.
The focus for ‘Art Moves’ is Joy, play, self-expression and fun.
I am using artistic expression and simple art processes I have developed over the years, designed specifically to help us get back in touch with our bodies, raise awareness within ourselves, our connection to each other, and to help us process our emotions and build inner strength. The ethnologist E. Dissanayake (Homo Aestheticus: Where Art Comes from and Why, 1995, E. Dissanayake) has defined art and related activities as "processes that have helped people return to psychological and social equilibrium" over the millennia, and perceives art as "a normal and important activity for people on an equal footing with communication, work, exercise, play, socialization, learning, love and care".

Disclaimer: Although my classes can feel therapeutic, they are not to be confused with therapy. I am not a therapist. I am an artist and a pedagog. This is not a therapy space, this is an art space. I will meet you as an equal, as a fellow human being. I will enter the creative process together with you, guiding you from within, while simultaneously facilitating from the outside. I provide us with tools, a framework, and I will challenge us.
