So in just 3 days’ time my show will be taken down. The closing of a chapter – ‘Simply Kat’ has reached its conclusion. The first painting in the Simply Kat series I completed in January 2016, the last December 2022. I do not yet know when my next show will be. What I do know is that I am in a new phase. A different space. A new in-depth body of work – a new inquiry - has begun.

As I will be entering a period of stillness, solitude (and media silence), I wish to leave you with this. A glimpse into the start of a new body of work … 

Today is the 17th of August – My dear late friend – who was also my ‘sister’, ‘occasional mother’, ‘teacher’ and co-creator would have been 63 years old today. She was – still is – in many of my works – as she is in me. She is in this piece too. As am I. As is my daughter. Several generations of women ..
