Reflections ..

Reflecting on a conversation I had with my friend (and art historian / curator) who was visiting me at Kat Art Studios in Rjukan this week, it occurred to me that something I said as a quick response to a question, is – on reflection – a fundamental principle in my practice.

Although my paintings become available for sale eventually, sales are not the focus of my work. As an artist my practice is research based. I am making inquiries, observing, reflecting, expressing. My language is visual, tactile, and kinetic, and my research disseminated – for the most part - in large scale paintings and installations.

My in-depth bodies of works are developed over long periods of time, and exhibitions focusing on my current inquiries are therefore limited. The first time I show my works I deliberately seek out spaces with curators who – like me – focus primarily on the stories I have to tell, the questions I raise and the experience of the exhibition itself.

My work only becomes available to galleries predominantly focused on sales after my inquiry is complete. Works from my recently completed ‘Simply Kat’ series are now more widely available for rent or sale (see my profile on Artwork Archive).

My current work however, I am excited to say, has been given a preliminary exhibition date – a 10 week solo show - during the summer of 2026, in a beautiful space in Bærum (Oslo).

I am embarking on an in-depth study of feminine energy, the female psyche, lost wisdoms, and redressing the balance between the masculine and feminine energies in society, a balance I strongly believe we need to move humanity forward in a sustainable way.

And I can’t wait to share this work with you – in 2026!
